Grand County Internet Services
Outgoing email authenication setup

In order to send email thru our mail servers, you need to set up your email program to verify your account before it will allow email to be sent. It used to be that if you were in our network you did not need to do this setting. We are now requiring that this setting be set for 2 reasons. First, we are in the process of transfering to a new email service and it requires this setting be set. Second, recently we have seen some users machines be infected with a virus which used their machines to send out spam and virus emails thru the server. This will help stop that. To make the change, choose the email program you are using below and follow the instructions.

Outlook Express
Microsoft Outlook prior to 2002
New Internet Mail
Microsoft Outlook 2002 and up Entourage

Apple Mail program
for Mac OSX 10.4 (version 2)
Apple Mail program
for Mac OSX 10.5 (version 3)

Netscape, Mozilla and related programs
Netscape Mozilla Thunderbird

SeaMonkey

If you are using an email program other than the above, you will have to go into it's outgoing mail server settings and choose to Authenicate before sending. If you need help, then call.
